Aromatherapy

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts, known as essential oils, to promote health and wellbeing. Sometimes called essential oil therapy, aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils to enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

The practice of aromatherapy dates back thousands of years, with ancient civilizations in Egypt, China, and India using aromatic plant components in resins, balms, and oils for medical and religious purposes. Today, aromatherapy combines the therapeutic properties of essential oils with massage to create a deeply relaxing and healing experience.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your aromatherapy massage session typically lasts 60 minutes and includes:

  • A consultation to discuss your needs and select appropriate essential oils

  • Gentle, flowing massage techniques similar to Swedish massage
  • Essential oils diluted in a carrier oil and applied through massage
  • Focus on relaxation and allowing the oils to penetrate the skin
  • Inhalation therapy as you breathe in the aromatic scents
  • Quiet, peaceful environment to maximize benefits

How Aromatherapy Works

Essential oils work in two ways:

  • Through Absorption: When applied to the skin through massage, essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream where they can work throughout the body, providing physical as well as emotional benefits
